MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- Spectra-Physics has announced the appointment of Dr. Arnd Krueger to lead a new cross-functional team entirely focusing on ultrafast lasers and applications. Dr. Krueger is widely known in the laser community as an expert on both ultrafast lasers and amplifiers. Most recently, he was Marketing Director at Spectra-Physics, responsible for ultrafast products and other laser systems targeted at the laboratory market.

According to Steve Sheng, President of Spectra-Physics Laser Division, "Building on our ultrafast laser leadership, our new team is focusing on solving new technical challenges for next generation applications, and accelerating product innovations in this emerging technology area.

Dr. Krueger explains that, "This dedicated team will be responsible for all aspects of ultrafast products, from product definition and engineering through sales and after-sales support. At present we deliver most of our ultrafast lasers and amplifiers to universities and other research facilities where they serve as enabling tools for a variety of scientific applications like time-resolved spectroscopy. However, we are also seeing an increasing interest in utilizing ultrafast systems for high-finesse materials processing. The creation of this highly focused team will allow us to provide the best support to our current and future customers while allowing us to respond quickly to the needs of the marketplace."
