FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif., April 1, 2003 -- IMC Networks, a worldwide leader in fiber optic connectivity solutions for LAN/MAN/WAN applications, today announced it will introduce two new Optical Ethernet Access Devices at the Networld+Interop trade show in Las Vegas during April 29-May 1.

Available in May, the new Access EtherLinX(TM) and the second-generation FiberLinX(TM) system will be demonstrated at the company's booth #7275.

Targeted to telecommunications, CATV and public utility companies offering commercial Ethernet services, the new products eliminate the need for an edge router, and feature a host of management capabilities not available in the existing Ethernet-based customer premises equipment. Service providers are now able to configure, monitor and troubleshoot customer premises equipment from a central location, minimizing on-site service calls and drastically reducing the operational costs. By deploying the new products independently or in combination, service providers can offer differentiated, bandwidth-scalable data and "Transparent LAN" services to business customers more cost-effectively than ever.

The new access devices feature an optical WAN uplink and standard 10/100 twisted pair LAN ports, providing an all-in-one optical demarcation point at the customer's network edge, while offering the customer a familiar, Ethernet-based WAN interface. Products will support incremental bandwidth control, full range of VLAN IDs, traffic prioritization, as well as SNMP, Telnet and TFTP protocols for the remote configuration, upgrades and proactive fault management. The management capabilities provide network operators total control from the central office -- even when customer service level requirements increase, more bandwidth can be allocated in seconds.
