INO Introduces its New Polarization Maintaining PoM Fiber: ErboPoM and PhotoPoM

January 25, 2002

INO is proud to introduce its new polarization maintaining PoM fiber series. Products in the PoM fiber series include the ErboPoM and the PhotoPoM fibers.

The ErboPoM fiber is a polarization maintaining fiber with a core that is doped with erbium making it the perfect choice for amplifiers requiring a polarized output. The ErboPoM fiber will maintain the state of polarization of the light as it travels through laser pigtails.

The ErboPoM fiber offers a birefringence of 3x10-4 and excellent polarization extinction ratio up to 35dB in a standard EDFA configurations. The ErboPoM fiber comes in a variety of absorption levels rendering it easily adaptable to custom amplifier parameters. The fiber is designed to provide excellent efficiency, high level of repeatability, superior gain, low noise and high output power.

The PhotoPom fiber consolidates photosensitivity and the polarization maintaining property in the same fiber. Applications such as laser pump stabilizers will benefit excessively from the fact that polarization maintaining fibers are also photosensitive. Whether hydrogen loading of the fiber is required or not, the advent of the PhotoPoM fiber will allow siginificant cost and time reductions by permitting gratings that are highly repeatable.

About INO
INO is an international leader in optics and photonics research & development and promotes expansion by providing assistance to companies seeking to be more competitive. INO concentrates its field of activities in 4 sectors which are Photonic and Guided-Wave Optics, Laser System Technologies, Photonic Materials and Processes and finally Digital and Optical Systems.

Among the 4 sectors, the Photonic and Guided-Wave Optics further specializes in the manufacturing of specialty fibers such as high attenuation fibers, photosensitive fibers, and rare-earth-doped fibers for both single clad and double clad configurations. INO also acts as an industry partner in the field of fiber Bragg gratings for applications such as gain flattening filters especially useful for DWDM EDFA. Moreover, INO manufactures periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) for wavelength conversion applications. Last but not least, INO manufactures a wide range of bench-top fiber amplifiers and ASE sources for the S, C, L, and C+L bands.
