Fiber Converter Equipped With Multiple Interfaces
November 13, 2009
Toronto, Canada - GAO Comm has launched its practical fiber converter series which are equipped with RS-485, RS-422 or RS-232 serial connections and multi-mode or single-mode fiber interfaces. They provide an ST connector for multi-mode fiber and an FC connecter for single-mode fiber and support asynchronous, point-to-point operation. The series of fiber converters are commonly used in industrial process control and distributed data acquisition and are particularly suitable for applications such as power system automation and traffic control.
The fiber converter series, model 227, features auto sense serial signal rate and zero delay automatic transmission. They automatically detect serial signal baud rates, which allows continuous transmission of signals from an RS-485, RS-422 or RS-232 interface to a fiber interface even when the baud rate is changed. The converters have a maximum rate of 500kbps and extend serial transmission distance up to 2km on multi-mode fiber or 20km on single-mode fiber.
