ECI's XDM® Multi Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP) allows DACOM to provision new services by simple insertion of cards

Petah Tikva, Israel — ECI Telecom has announced that DACOM Corporation, one of the largest telecommunications providers in Korea, has completed deployment and launched ECI's XDM® multi-service provisioning platform for its new national backbone and metro networks. The contract is valued at USD$3.6 million for the first deployment, with an option for extensive expansion over the next few years. The new DWDM networks span all of Korea and supply customers with the necessary capacity and next generation services.

"After looking at other solutions for these new networks, we selected ECI based on its advanced solutions, its system reliability and competitive price," said Mr. Hyeong-Kyu Kim, Director of the Transmission Network Unit from DACOM. "The new networks allow DACOM to continue to provide a low-cost, value-added leased line service to our subscribers."

ECI's converged multi-service platform includes combiner cards that can aggregate services to save on channels. The 32-channel platform provides the infrastructure to allow DACOM to support transparent wavelengths of up to 10 Gb/s. This provides DACOM with a cost-effective and scalable approach to provisioning new services through the simple insertion of cards when required.

The ECI DWDM networks help DACOM increase revenues, while keeping operational costs at a minimum. The networks connect Jungdong, Kyoung, Chung, Kangbuk, Yoeui, and Kangnam. They also connect KIDC, one of the most advanced data centers in Asia.

DACOM previously deployed ECI's XDM platform in Pusan in 2003. "ECI is pleased to help DACOM advance its position in the Korean telecommunications market," said Aviel Tenenbaum, President of ECI`s Asia Pacific Regional Business Unit. "We look forward to continuing our successful partnership with DACOM."
