Establishes Connectivity and Integrated Customer Support Across Combined Network

Louisville, CO (Marketwire) -  Zayo Group announces the completion of the network integration between Zayo and AboveNet networks. The resulting combined network nearly doubles Zayo's national network reach and provides connectivity that spans over 61,000 route miles in 45 states and 7 countries. Zayo closed the acquisition of AboveNet on July 2nd, 2012.

The integration of the Zayo and AboveNet fiber networks includes the combination of the previously separate DWDM (Wavelengths), Ethernet and IP systems. The combined Wavelength network provides high bandwidth connectivity between Zayo's connected markets and will be utilized for higher-level services, such as Ethernet and IP. The Ethernet and IP networks allow customers to access Zayo's Tier 1 IP network by extending across and into Metro markets shared by Zayo and AboveNet.

The interconnection of the two previously independent fiber networks included creating fiber connections to link key network nodes as well as implementing new network equipment that enables the previously independent networks to communicate. Zayo has also completed the consolidation of network management and customer support into a single Network Control Center. Customers will receive support on all services through a single point of contact that can access all their service records, as well as related network elements across the combined network.

Customers can now access Zayo's national and dense metro networks across points-of-presence in over 200 markets. Zayo's points-of-presence span 18 of the 20 largest markets in the US, as well as smaller markets, such as Spokane, Boise and Albuquerque with unique network assets. The integration also brings access to major cities across Europe including London, Paris, Frankfurt and Amsterdam through Zayo's transatlantic capacity and European fiber networks.

"The AboveNet acquisition is the largest in Zayo history," states Dan Caruso, President and CEO of Zayo Group. "An important part of our acquisition strategy is to completely and quickly integrate acquisitions so customers benefit from the expanded network assets and we can achieve targeted cost savings."
