Metromedia Fiber Network (MFN)co-based Yipes has extended its fiber optic infrastructure in major North America <%=company%> (MFN; New York). The agreement will enable Yipes to quickly bring ultra-high-speed Internet services to more of its customers across the U.S.

Yipes will lease local fiber infrastructure from MFN throughout the downtown and surrounding suburban areas of Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, Metromedia Fiber Network (MFN)co, and Seattle. Using MFN's high-bandwidth optical Internet backbone, Yipes will be able to deliver an Ethernet-based, IP-over-fiber network that provides LAN-to-LAN service between business locations, and also high-speed, scalable Internet access ranging from 1 Mbps to 1 Gbps.

The company has selected Juniper Networks Inc. (Mountain View, CA) to provide a key component of Yipes' all IP (Internet Protocol)-over-fiber networks. Yipes will be purchasing Juniper's purpose-built M40 Internet backbone routers to support its optical network. Yipes has also picked Extreme Networks Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) switching technology to offer business-to-business and business-to-Internet connections at fast speeds.
