WPA Fiber Network, LLC Launches A Regional Fiber Network To Expand Pennsylvania's Access To Broadband
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) - WPA Fiber Network, LLC (WPAFN), a consortium of internet service providers, has announced the formation of its regional fiber network in Pennsylvania. The network aims to serve Telecom Service Providers and commercial customers in Southwestern Pennsylvania. As federal and state officials get ready to distribute billions of dollars in broadband grant monies under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act's Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program, the launch of the WPAFN comes at a crucial time for Pennsylvania.
"WPA Fiber Network will concentrate on providing telecommunication providers and commercial customers with high-speed fiber-optic backbone capabilities," said Jim Kail, CEO and Board Member of WPAFN and President & CEO of Laurel Highland Total Communications, Inc. "We believe that regional fiber connectivity is vital for Pennsylvania's economic growth and development."
Carrier Meet Points are physical locations where WPAFN can connect with other service providers and exchange traffic. "Through our middle-mile infrastructure, WPAFN aims to reduce the cost of connecting unserved and underserved areas in Pennsylvania," said Brian Jeffers, Board Member of WPAFN and CEO of Hickory Telephone Company. "These connections are crucial for the telecommunications industry because they allow carriers to improve their connectivity and overall network performance, which benefits both the industry and its customers."
WPAFN Carrier Meet Point locations include DATABANK - Downtown Pittsburgh Data Center, DATABANK - Summit Park Data Center, EV Bishoff Company - Pittsburgh Tech Center, Citizens Fiber, Hickory Telephone Company, LHTC Broadband - Donegal, LHTC Broadband - Ligonier, and LHTC Broadband - Yukon.
"WPAFN's leadership team has extensive industry expertise and is committed to enabling broadband development in the state," said Kenneth Cutrell, Board Member of WPAFN and President of Citizens Fiber. "We provide the necessary infrastructure for different telecommunications carriers to connect to organizations in our service area."
