Wavelength Division Multiplexing Modules
The Wavelength Division Multiplexing modules feature a unique hybrid eight-channel 50GHz WDM module, an all-filter four-channel 1OOGHz WDM module and a hybrid eight-channel 1OOGHz VVDM module. These components represent the most cost-effective solution for dense WDM systems that maximize telecommunications bandwidth without adding any new fiber infrastructure to existing networks.
The WDM modules are made with thin-film interference filters or a hybrid combination of filters and the latest technology for reliability and stability. Assembled using E-TEK's proprietary packaging method similar to the company's well-known and field-proven isolator packaging technique, the WDM modules have an epoxy-free optical path and a wide passband for relaxed laser wavelength tolerance. The low-loss, high-performance WDM components are available in ITU or custom wavelengths.
Also available is a newly developed laser wavelength locker. This filter-based component has ±1.25GHz stability over a wide temperature range and is critical for use in dense WDM systems that demand high laser accuracy because of tightened wavelength tolerance. The stable wavelength locker has a locking range of 0.3nm. It provides continuous feedback voltage to a DFB laser to prevent wavelength drifts. The module can be used to control the laser output in any wavelength on the ITU grid for WDM systems with 1OOGHz or 50GHz channel spacing.
E-TEK also will feature its hybrid/integrated optics for the next-generation optical amplifier at Supercomm. These components include an integrated Isolator-WDM (IWDM), a Tap Coupler-Isolator (TAPI), an Isolator-Tap Coupler-Multiplexer (ITMX), an Integrated Fiber Amplifier (IFAM) and the latest Integrated Power Monitor Module (IPMM) that combines a filter tap coupler with a PIN photodetector. These hybrid components are compact and cost-effective options designed for erbium-doped fiber amplifiers. Other advanced fiber-optic components on display include an add-drop optical module with 200GHz channel spacing, a polarization combiner and splitter, a multi-port circulator, and high power laser modules in 980nm and 1550nm wavelengths.
