The tool is used to investigate the benefits and trade offs of EDFA and Raman amplification in a self contained environment. Sophisticated characterization tools assist in engineering the hybrid amplification scheme to achieve the best overall performance.
Models incorporate advanced signal representations including multiple sampled bands and mixed signal representations, for use in systems simulations. Doped amplifiers (fiber and waveguide) can be automatically characterized and converted into pump-power dependent Black-Box models for rapid systems simulations of gain-controlled amplifiers, for the design of control loops within the software environment.
