Transmode Wins 3-Year Frame Contract With Telenor

Stockholm, Sweden — Telenor, the Tier 1 Norwegian PTT and Global Service Provider, and Transmode, a pioneering supplier of optical networking systems, today announced a multi-million Euro frame agreement covering the supply of WDM solutions to support Telenor's plans for upgrade of its network infrastructure.

Under the terms of the agreement, Transmode will supply its award-winning Mentis platform for the build-out of Telenor's CWDM network. A key application for the CWDM network is to provide the capacity required to backhaul data traffic in Telenor's broadband network.

Price-competitiveness was an important deciding factor for Telenor but they were also looking for a combination of optimum technical solution, superior customer service and long-term vendor stability. Transmode fulfilled all of these requirements.

The Telenor contract is a major milestone for Transmode, one of the world's fastest-growing companies in the telecommunications equipment sector. Transmode now counts a major Tier 1 network operator and service provider as one of its customers, a significant step towards the company's goal of becoming one of the top 5 global players in its market segment. Recently, Transmode merged with Lumentis, another successful Swedish optical networking vendor, and has won awards from Red Herring, Tornado Insider and Deloitte recognising its status as one of Europe's top privately-owned technology companies.

"We are delighted to have been chosen by a customer with the global reputation for quality of service that Telenor enjoys", said Isaac Olasoko, CEO of Transmode. "This award is a major endorsement of our strategy and underlines the importance of product performance and customer service, as well as market-leading pricing."
