Telecast Fiber Systems NAB 2002 Preview
Company Overview:
Telecast Fiber Systems, Inc. (Booth L-18859) is the leader in portable and fixed fiber optic systems for television broadcast production. The company's video, audio, and communications systems are used worldwide by TV networks, teleproduction companies, telecommunications providers, and private and government institutions and facilities to extend range, simplify cabling, and reduce labor costs and set-up time. The company's systems accommodate all television production signals, including NTSC/PAL video, 601 and HDTV SDI, analog and AES/EBU audio, triaxial wideband camera interfaces, and intercom and data signals. More information on the company can be found at www.telecast-fiber.com.
New Products at NAB 2002:
Python Plus4 SDI/HDTV Multiplexer
The new Python Plus4 is a format-independent digital distribution unit that transports four channels of serial digital video on a single optical fiber. The compact system is capable of handling all standard digital formats from 19.4 Mbps up to uncompressed high-definition television (HDTV) at 1.5 Gbps. Applications for the Python Plus4 include studio-transmitter links (STLs), connections in and between production and post-production facilities, and SDTV/HDTV traffic between metropolitan switching centers.
Digital CopperHead Camera Mounted ENG/DSNG Link
Telecast builds on its unique CopperHead product line with a portable fiber optic system that delivers both digital video (601 SDI or uncompressed HDTV) and analog video, along with all the audio, intercom, data, and control signals, on one durable, lightweight cable.
Two-Way Point of View (POV) Fiber Link
Get those challenging POV shots with this bidirectional video and data link. The TR5220, part of the growing Viper II family, comes as either a rack-mounted or "throw-down" module that transports broadcast-quality video from a remote POV camera, return video/genlock back to the camera, tally/closure signals, and two full duplex control data signals for both camera and PTZ platforms. All signals are digitally and optically multiplexed for bidirectional transmission on a single optical fiber conductor.
CWDM Optical Multiplexing for Viper II Transport
The Viper II modular fiber optic platform becomes even more efficient with the addition of robust coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM). New Viper II mux/demux modules and compatible fiber optic transceivers provide a cost effective route to transporting up to eight SDTV/HDTV SDI signals on a single optical fiber conductor. Telecast's CWDM technology also permits high-density multiplexing of diverse signals, such as NTSC/PAL video, analog and digital audio, intercom, command and control data, and SDI/HD digital video, all on the same fiber strand.
