ST and SC Fiber Connectors
The precision zirconia ceramic ferrules utilized in both ST and SC connectors enable a typical insertion loss performance of 0.5 dB, using a manual polishing method, or 0.2 dB using the Automated Fiber Polisher.
The ST connector employs a rugged metal bayonet coupling ring with radial ramps which facilitate engagement to the studs of the mating adapter. Two ST connectors are available for jacketed fiber, one with a beige boot and one with a black boot. The two colors enable easy identification of the fibers when terminating individual connectors to form a duplex jumper. Also available are a connector for buffered fiber and a connector that includes all the components to enable termination to either jacketed or buffered fiber.
SC Duplex housings snap together to form a duplex connector with the right amount of radial and lateral float without the need for a separate "duplexing clip". This feature eliminates the potential for mis-mating that often occurs when simplex housings are duplexed via a separate clip.
SC and ST Fiber Connectors Features:
- Economical in both design and termination process
- The termination process incorporates use of a new user-friendly, reliable adhesive
- Field termination is a 2 1/2 minute process; no need for electrical power
- Typical Insertion Loss for both ST and SC connectors = 0.40 dB using manual polishing (or 0.20 dB using the FPOL Automated Fiber Polisher)
