RCN Metro Optical Networks Makes The Grade At Lafayette College

New York, NY - RCN Metro Optical Networks, a division of RCN Corporation and a premier provider of fiber optic-based network solutions, announced recently that Lafayette College selected RCN Metro to design and build an Ethernet circuit leveraging the Company's uniquely diverse fiber path for the transport of Internet traffic between regions.

"We wanted to find a physically diverse path for our second Internet connection, ideally running directly east from the Lehigh Valley to New York City rather than south to Philadelphia. RCN Metro was able to meet our requirement," said John O'Keefe, Director, ATS and Network Services, Lafayette College. "Thanks to the collaborative effort between Lafayette College and RCN Metro, the circuit was built and carries Internet services from Lehigh Valley, PA to New York, NY. RCN Metro was the only provider who stepped up and met our design criteria, and worked with us to ensure the quality and integrity of the circuit."

"We're proud to have been selected by Lafayette College to provide transport services," said Felipe Alvarez, President of RCN Metro. "This circuit leverages our fiber route that runs along utility rights-of-way that are west of the Route 95 corridor, which is a common path used by many other carriers. By leveraging this route, Lafayette College has found an alternative that provides them superior diversity, redundancy, and protection in this heavily traveled corridor."
