Purchase Agreement Gives VIA NET.WORKS Access Pan-European Network, iaxisenroute

VIA NET.WORKS (Reston, VA) has signed an agreement with iaxis (London) that gives VIA access to the first phase of iaxisenroute, the pan-European network which spans 3,000 km and encompasses London, Paris, Strasbourg, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp, and Brussels.

VIA plans to take capacity on second and third phases of iaxisenroute as they go live, expanding its network reach an additional 5,000 km throughout Europe.

Growth Networks and MMC Networks Partner for Scalable Carrier Infrastructure Solutions
Growth Networks (Mountain View, CA) and MMC Networks (Sunnyvale, CA) are partnering to address the requirements of high-capacity carrier networks. The partnership will focus on developing interoperable switching fabric, traffic management and software-programmable packet processor solutions that will speed network equipment vendors' time-to-market.

The collaboration will provide vendors of Internet core, edge, and metropolitan-area network systems with scalable, high-performance silicon building blocks. The two companies will develop interface technology between MMC's AnyFlow software- programmable packet processor solutions and Growth's Internet Switching Fabric chip sets. The development effort is expected to be completed during the second half of 2000. Furthermore, Growth and MMC are working with the Common Switch Interface (CSIX) consortium to standardize the switching fabric/network processor interface specification for rates of 10 gigabits per second and above.
