Presto Purchases Mexican Fiber Optic Cable

Latin American telecommunications company Presto Telecommunications S.A. de C.V. signed an agreement in excess of $5 million with Telscape International Inc. subsidiary Telereunion S.A. de C.V. to purchase fiber optic cable covering approximately 550 km from Puebla to Vera Cruz. According to Presto's chief technology officer, Robert Wainwright, the exchange will reduce costs and speed up the process of the company's planned 4,770-km fiber optic build-out in Mexico. Upon completion, the (approximately) $300 million network will span all states within Mexico, covering in excess of 90% of the population.

Presto Telecommunications S.A. de C.V. is the Mexican partner to Presto Telecommunications Inc., a privately held, facilities-based company headquartered in San Diego that focuses on customers in the underserved, middle-sized markets across Mexico and Latin America.
