PCI-X Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter

The PowerSAN 6050 PCI-X host bus adapter (HBA) has been added to the company's 2 Gbps Fibre Channel product offerings. The HBA is a dual port 2 Gbps adapter designed to provide redundant failover capabilities, along with high performance server connectivity for next generation storage networking applications.

The new PCI-X adapter uses an IBM Microelectronics 133 MHz PCI-X bridge chip and 2 Gbps small form factor hot-pluggable fiber optic transceiver. It offers two ports that provide high performance 2 Gbps throughput, double the performance of previous HBAs. With added failover capabilities, the adapter ensures uninterrupted access and reliability for enterprise-class applications. In addition to higher performance and reliability, dual channel connectivity gives customers increased port density to preserve server bus slots, and two times the I/O bandwidth for handling heavy traffic storage networking applications. Using the new PCI-X bus interface, the adapter operates at 133MHz, provides full duplex transmission, and allows IT administrators to select either 1 Gbps or 2 Gbps configurations.

The adapter operates on the company's new software driver architecture, providing operating system support for Windows NT, Windows 2000, Linux, NetWare and Solaris. The product is bundled with FibreView Enterprise.
