Ortel Announces AC Coupled 10 Gb/s Digital Receivers with high sensitivity and flexible supply voltages
BALTIMORE, Mar. 7, 2000 – Ortel Corp. (Nasdaq: ORTL) today announced the Model 2860E and Model 2860F 10 gigabit-per-second (Gb/s) AC coupled digital receivers for OC-192/STM 64 telecommunications applications. These latest additions to Ortel's 2860 family of digital PIN receivers feature high sensitivity and flexible supply voltages of +/-5 Volt (V), +8 V, or –8 V.
"Ortel's new digital receiver modules deliver the highest sensitivity available in a 10 Gb/s PIN receiver," said Jeff Rittichier, Ortel's vice president of worldwide marketing. "This performance advantage, combined with flexible supply voltage options, enables our telecommunications OEM customers to maximize their link margins and deliver more robust 10 Gb/s systems."
Ortel's 2860 family of 10 Gb/s digital receivers incorporate a high-speed planar PIN diode and transimpedance amplifier to deliver exceptionally high performance. Each unit provides exceptional sensitivity, high overload and bandwidth for operation over a variety of loss budgets. The Model 2860E features transimpedance of 1200 Ohms, and Model 2860F has high transimpedance of 2000 Ohms. The entire 2860 family provides solutions for a wide range of 10 Gb/s applications including short, intermediate and long haul systems, SONET/SDH equipment, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) systems and datacom equipment. In addition, Ortel also introduced the Model 2560A high power photodiode module designed for receiver applications with optical preamplification. Ortel's 2560A incorporates a high-speed planar PIN diode that is well matched over the entire operating frequency band for easy integration into 10 Gb/s and 12.5 Gb/s equipment and linear receiver applications.
