The NODEedfa is an optical amplifier designed to be mounted in the company's PWRBlazer node platform. The node platforms and modules, including the NODEedfa, are optimized to support fiber-deep networks and scalable architectures. Unlike typical optical amplifiers, this new product is environmentally hardened and extremely compact, enabling cable operators to move optical amplification out of hubs and into nodes. This innovation provides operators a significant level of flexibility in building and upgrading cable networks. In some cases, the amplifier completely eliminates the requirement for a stand-alone hub building.

The new amplifier is part of the MAXLink family of transmitters and optical amplifiers designed for 1550 nm-based network applications. It provides optical amplification capability out of a node, offering a high degree of design flexibility to the system operator. The amplifier is packaged in a single plug-in module that is easily installed into the PWRBlazer node platform.
