Onix Microsystems was founded in October of 1998, with the mission of developing a complete range of all-optical MEMS switching products for the telecommunications industry and related applications. The company's products leverage MEMS technologies to enable our customers to provide high-value, scalable, reliable systems to manage, test and protect fiber optic networks.

Onix Microsystems is composed of well-known experts in the field of optical communications and MEMS technologies. Collectively, they represent a high level of core competence in the optical and MEMS technological arena. They also share extensive experience in the development of MEMS systems, optical components, and successful venture startups.

Onix's initial technology was developed by our founders while working at the Berkeley Sensor and Actuator Center (BSAC) at the University of California - Berkeley, one of the premier research centers in MEMS technology. With our headquarters and state-of-the-art facility in neighboring Richmond, California, Onix is located close to all of the bay area's high tech centers.
