The 100 GHz, 40-channel Arrayed Waveguide Grating (AWG) multiplexer/demultiplexer (mux/demux) was designed for dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) applications. As a fundamental building block for optical communication systems, the AWG delivers a small footprint.

The AWG is reliable and offers significant functionality in a compact package format (75mm x 44mm x 20mm). This device combines and splits optical signals of different wavelengths for use in DWDM systems. The core of the device, the AWG, consists of a range of arrayed channel waveguides, which together act like a diffraction grating in a spectrometer. The grating provides a high wavelength resolution, thus attaining narrow wavelength channel spacings and a low insertion loss.

Features:
• Flexibility of configuration, chip package or module
• Industry accepted silica on silicon technology
• Low insertion loss
• Standard and flattened passband
• Versatile and cost effective solution for DWDM applications
• Designed to be compliant with Telcordia 1209/1221
