NexGen Insulation Displacement Connector (IDC) Terminal Block
Siecor announces the NexGen Insulation Displacement Connector (IDC) Terminal Block,

Siecor announces the NexGen Insulation Displacement Connector (IDC) Terminal Block, a module that requires only a simple, toolless ¾ twist to achieve a highly reliable wire termination. The NexGen is part of its Outside Plant Broadband Product Solutions, which is a wide ranging array of innovative cable and hardware products and services that enable telecommunications companies to provide broadband services via fiber-to-the-curb or xDL network architectures.

This gel-filled IDC provides environmentally protected connections under the harshest outdoor conditions and is compatible with evolving broadband network system component requirements. The foundation of Siecor's NexGen IDC modular design is the backbone strip where OSP pairs are terminated on high pressure contact sockets.

Siecor's IDC Terminal Block supports Category 3, 4 or 5 copper cables. This highly robust strip can accommodate from 3 to 25 OSP pairs in 1-pair increments. Its flexible modularity allows for a cost-efficient evergreen approach to technology in the field. A customer isn't required to commit to a single technology. The NexGen IDC module makes it possible to upgrade to emerging broadband technologies as subscriber service requirements change. It is possible to install the backbone strip partially populated, then add to it later in as few as 1-pair increments as subscriber service requires. This NexGen IDC module is compatible with protected or unprotected standard or Cat5 IDCs. Future module variations can be included such as xDSL, splitters, coax connectors and baluns, as well as active electronic components.
