New High Speed Multifiber Interferometer

clip

Cranbury, NJ - Norland Products Inc. announces the availability of their next generation Automated Interferometric Microscope System 2020 for measuring the end face quality of multifiber connectors. Using a custom high resolution Michelson interferometric objective and a high speed 4 megapixel camera, the AIM 2020 system provides exceptional speed, accuracy, resolution, and ease of use compared to any other system on the market.

To maintain high quality in multifiber connectors, manufacturers need to examine both the overall surface of the connector and the details of the individual fiber tips. The AIM 2020 is designed to provide the quantity and quality of data points for the most accurate measurement of the fiber height, fiber tip radius and core dip. The astounding feature of this system is that even though it utilizes 3 to 4 times more data than competitive systems, it measures a 12 fiber MT connector in 11 seconds. It measures all the key parameters of a multifiber connector including angle of polish, radius of curvature, fiber height, fiber plane angle, core dip, fiber tip radius, and minus coplanarity.

Everything has been fully automated in this system. There are no operator adjustments necessary. No knowledge of interferometry is needed. NIST traceable standards provide confirmed calibration for magnification, fiber height, and angle of polish. Our patented True Angle connector mounts with integral aperture plate and pins allow easy insertion of the connectors into the mount and provide the highest accuracy for angle measurements.
