New 3M Final Polish Film Lasts Three Times Longer

St. Paul, MN - 3M introduces to its line of products for fiber optic connector polishing, 3M Lapping Film 865X, the industry's longest-lasting final polish lapping film.

3M Lapping Film 865X – used in the final step for fiber optics connector polishing produce consistent fiber height and outstanding visual quality, helping finished connectors meet Telecordia GR-326 standards. The polishing film offers upwards of 90 percent yield for multiple uses, reducing rework.

"Manufacturers that use Lapping Film 865X can expect consistent performance from cable-to-cable and lot-to-lot," said Paul Kuhrmeyer, business development manager for 3M Electronics Markets Materials Division. "In addition, the new Lapping Film 865X will lower the cost per connector in half providing better value for superior performance."

The high-performance lapping films feature silica coated on a 3 mil, high-strength polyester backing.

3M Lapping Films are available in sheets, discs and rolls for use on polishing equipment readily common in the market. 3M Lapping Film 865X offers a new dimension of speed, consistency and control for final polishing of ceramic fiber optic connectors.
