Micromuse to buy NetOps

Network management software specialist Micromuse Inc. (San Francisco) has signed an agreement to acquire privately-held NetOps Corp. (Pleasantville, NY) for $21 million in stock and cash. NetOps produces a network problem diagnosis application called Visionary, which is compatible out of the box with Micromuse's Netcool family of realtime fault monitoring and service assurance applications.

Using SNMP management information bases, the NetOps package performs device-level diagnostics to determine the cause of faults in the network.
