Marconi SmartPhotoniX PMX a Photonic Interconnect System

Source: Harris Technologies
The PMX can be expanded to support a second ring with interconnect facilities available between rings
The PMX system allows for the future. Its core is built on the PMA32 that supports single ring network architectures, combine this with in-service capability and the PMX can be expanded to support a second ring with interconnect facilities available between rings. This simple but effect architecture is ideal for emerging and growing networks.

Features Summary
Thirty-two channel photonic dual ring interconnect multiplexer
Ring applications
16 wavelength interconnect facility
Multi-rate 2.5G fixed wavelength regeneration
Span distance between nodes of 80 Km, expandable using optical amplifiers
Tributary span distance of up to 25 Km
1+1 Optical Sub-Network Connection Protection (ONCP)
Multiplex Section Protection for terminal applications
Path and section trace
Reconfigurable transponding tributaries
Remote configuration and management
Local configuration and management through the Local Craft Terminal
Compliant with ITU-T wavelengths
Modular capacity upgrade by expanding one channel at a time while in service
Front-access design for all client interfaces, featuring optical backplane
The transponding tributaries are bandwidth-configurable, allowing rapidly increasing demands for bandwidth to be accommodated without equipment change-out.
