KrellTech Celebrates The Opening Of Sussex County Community College's New Optics Technology Center

KrellTech was proud to attend the ribbon cutting for Sussex County Community College’s new Optics Technology Center, a project that represents an important investment in photonics education, workforce development, and the future of the industry in New Jersey.
Tyler Simays, Director of Marketing and Business Development at KrellTech, attended the event on behalf of the company and joined fellow members of the regional photonics community in recognizing the significance of the new center. The ribbon cutting brought together leaders from education and industry who share a common goal of helping students gain exposure to optics, photonics, and the real-world opportunities tied to these technologies.
Photonics continues to play an increasingly important role across telecommunications, sensing, aerospace, defense, medical technology, semiconductor processing, and advanced manufacturing. As the industry grows, so does the need for strong educational programs that can prepare the next generation of technicians, engineers, and innovators. Facilities like Sussex County Community College’s Optics Technology Center help create those pathways by giving students access to hands-on learning and direct connections to a rapidly evolving field.
KrellTech was especially encouraged to see the strong support surrounding the event from organizations that are helping move the photonics industry forward in New Jersey and beyond. That includes PhotonicsNJ, whose continued advocacy and support help strengthen awareness, collaboration, and momentum across the industry. It was also great to see fellow members of the Advancing Photonics Technologies community come together in support of optics education and workforce development.
At KrellTech, we understand how important it is to invest not only in technology, but also in the people and programs that will shape the future of photonics. Supporting initiatives like this helps build a stronger pipeline between education and industry while reinforcing the long-term value of photonics as a driver of innovation, economic growth, and advanced manufacturing.
We congratulate Sussex County Community College on the opening of its new Optics Technology Center and look forward to seeing the impact it will have on students, the regional workforce, and the broader photonics community. Read the full story on the KrellTech website.
