Cisco Systems Inc.> (San Jose, CA) is joining with Golden Telecom, a facilities-based provider of integrated telecommunications and Internet services throughout Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), for Cisco to supply equipment for Golden Telecom IP network. TeleRoss, the core of group of companies operating under the Golden Telecom trademark, will be the first company in Russia to deploy Cisco Gigabit switch routers ( GSR), the top devices in their class.

Cisco GSR routers, to be installed in June 2000, will substantially expand data transmission capacity of Golden Telecom and the range of services it provides to both corporate and individual users in Russia.

Golden Telecom's data and voice network currently serves more than 105 cities in Russia and the CIS. The Moscow-Stockholm channel connects this network to the Global TeleSystems (GTS) Ebone network, Europe's leading Internet backbone provider. The Ebone network allows for 2.5 Gbit per second traffic speed to nearly any location in Europe and worldwide.

Cisco GSR switch routers will be installed at the main nodes of the international Golden Telecom channel in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Stockholm. The GSR router in Stockholm will provide the connection with the Global TeleSystems IP route.
