Gigabit Ethernet Adapters

The AT-2970T series of Gigabit Ethernet Server Adapters is a new line of flexible, reliable, high-performance, networking tools. Optimized to support both 64bit/66MHz PCI and 32bit/33MHz PCI bus systems, the AT-2970T 1000Base-T adapter utilizes a highly-advanced and efficient ASIC that enables support for true 64-bit wide throughput between the Gigabit Ethernet MAC interface and the PCI bus. This ensures complete compatibility and maximum performance while reducing CPU utilization for Gigabit throughput, Gigabit performance and Gigabit reliability.

Because time spent transferring data to and from the network is time taken away from applications, the series was designed specifically to minimize demands on the CPU, so that the CPU is free for other tasks. To keep mission-critical networks up and running, the series offers a dual port version, the AT-2970T2, that delivers full service on one port, and keeps its second port active as a redundant link which takes over full service -- automatically -- in the event of a cable, port or switch failure.

These new high-performance server adapters support the 64bit/66MHz PCI bus bandwidth specification of 533MBps. At speeds four times that of conventional 32-bit systems, the full-duplex adapters will never be the bottleneck, and compatibility with 32-bit systems is ensured through dual address cycle mode. In addition, both the single and dual port adapters allow 64-bit addressing in a single cycle to address more than 4 GB of RAM.
