FSP 3000 Scalable Metro System

The ADVA FSP 3000 is a Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) system specifically designed for Metropolitan Service Providers that require a flexible, cost-effective system that will multiplex and transport high-speed data, voice, storage, and video applications.

Service Providers deploy the FSP 3000 to maximize the bandwidth density and service flexibility of their metropolitan area and access networks, while supporting new revenue opportunities for high-speed LAN and SAN services.

The modular architecture of the FSP 3000 comprises a rack-mountable chassis and hot-swappable modules that can be selected to meet the network and application requirements. The system offers a variety of modules to perform specific network element functions such as conver-sion, multiplexing, protection, and network management. The FSP 3000 transparent "fiber-in fiber-out" interfaces support all protocols between the range of 100 Mbit/s and 10 Gbit/s, including OC-3/-12/48, STM-1/-4/-16, Gigabit Ethernet Sx, Gigabit Ethernet Lx, Fast Ethernet, FDDI, ATM, ESCON, FICON, Fibre Channel, Coupling Link or any proprietary protocol operating within the specified data range.

The FSP 3000 hardware design, coupled with the benefits of DWDM technology, enables the system to support point-to-point, linear add/drop, and ring network topologies with up to nine nodes. The Optical Supervisory Channel and FSP Element and Network Manager software allow remote system operation and service provisioning from any node on the network.
