Fiberguide Introduces Line Of Plastic Hard Clad Silica Fibers

Stirling, NJ -- Fiberguide Industries, Inc. introduces its latest Eduraguide line of large core multimode optical fibers featuring a Plastic Hard Clad Silica ("PHCS") coated fibers with a Numerical Aperture (N.A.) of 0.37 and PHCS coated silica/silica with a N.A. of 0.22 and attenuation of < 10dB/km @ 850nm.

Ted Rich, Founder and President of Fiberguide states: "This is a major step for Fiberguide being able to respond to customer's needs with a wider range of product offerings. We are excited and look forward to being in a position to serve our customers more effectively with a broader range of technology and innovative solutions as well as facilitate growth in new markets".

Features and Benefits of the Eduraguide PHCS fiber include, but are not limited to:

  • High concentricity and core-to-clad ratio for excellent connection alignment, fiber core positioning and high transmission bundles
  • Hard polymer coating for increased fiber strength, reduced static fatigue in humid environments, and protects the fiber during buffer stripping to prevent fiber breakage
  • Robust PHCS bonding to prevent pistoning and provides more stable crimp-and-cleave or epoxy terminations
  • All materials are Biocompatible and tested against USP Class VI

Product applications of the Eduraguide PHCS fiber include, but are not limited to:

  • Laser delivery systems
  • Medical for Laser and Sensor Technologies
  • Short to medium distance data communications
  • Factory automation
  • Near-IR spectroscopy
  • Optical pyrometry
  • Automotive cabling
