Fiber Collimator Product Line

The company has added seven fiber optic collimators to its standard line-up, all designed for superior performance when collimating over extended ranges. Each design incorporates the company's patent-pending laser fusion technology, in which the fiber is directly attached to the back of the collimating lens, resulting in reduced packaging complexity and cost.

The products are designed specifically for improved performance over longer collimation distances. Of particular importance to many optical switching applications is the addition of a 600-micron diameter beam collimator with very low (0.5 dB typical) and very flat (+0.3 dB typical) insertion loss per pair of collimators across a 100 mm to 150 mm separation distance. This design has the same 1.65 mm diameter miniature housing as the original 430-micron beam collimator.

Larger diameter collimating assemblies are also now available in custom packages. Standard beam diameters up to 7.5 mm are proving to be important components in the next generation of optical networking products, such as optical cross connects, add-drop multiplexers, wavelength switches, matrix switches, and high channel count DWDM modules.
