EBU Order Upgrade Of Eurovision Network With Net Insight's New Nimbra 688 Switches

Stockholm, Sweden – Net Insight has received a further order from the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) to upgrade the Eurovision network with the high capacity Nimbra 688 switches.

Based on the Nimbra platform, EBU operates its Eurovision fiber network for seamless, secure and high-performance transport of live video from major news and sports events to broadcast customers in Europe, North America and Asia. Over the years EBU has continuously extended its Nimbra-based Eurovision network to cater for additional services, capacity and customer connections.

Driven by increasing traffic volumes, EBU has now decided to upgrade some of its main sites with Net Insight's new high-capacity Nimbra 688 switches. The Nimbra 688 is the most powerful switch in the Nimbra 600 series, offering redundant 80 gigabit per second switching capacity and twice the access and trunk port count. With the Nimbra 688 in the core network, Eurovision is strengthening its capabilities to meet all future requirements of its customers for real time content delivery of top sports and news events.

Delivery and installation of the Nimbra 688 switches will occur in the December to February time frame.

"Our customers continue to expand their networks and we are delighted to work with the EBU on the development of its network", says Fredrik Trägårdh, CEO of Net Insight.
