Digital Video Transport System
The 270 Mbps DVB-ASI interface cards give operators the capability to transport multiple, full-payload DVB-ASI signals - 211Mbps - over DV6000 fiber optic networks. With Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing, N/Acan transport 72 DVB-ASI streams, or over 4000 + broadcast quality MPEG-encoded videos, all over one fiber. The DVB-ASI card has the ability to deliver the full DVB-ASI data rate. DVB-ASI has a transmission rate of 270 Mbps. 20% of this capacity is lost due to data encoding schemes used for forward error correction (FEC) and signal robustness, dropping usable data capacity to 216 Mbps. An additional 5 to 6 Mbps are used for synchronization, leaving a total usable payload capacity of 211 Mbps. Currently, DVB-ASI streams from signal generation equipment such as video servers and (re)multiplexers can only produce data rates (payloads) between 90 and 150 Mbps.
