DFB Laser

Source: AMS Optotech GmbH
A cooled, DFB laser has an integrated thermoelectric cooler
A cooled, DFB laser has an integrated thermoelectric cooler that keeps the laser in the butterfly housing at a constant temperature. Stabilization of the laser temperature makes it possible to maintain a constant emission wavelength and output power, regardless of the outside temperature. With the aid of the integrated BIAS-TEEs the laser can be modulated directly at a bit rate of up to 2.448 Gbit/s (STM-16 and OC-48).

The laser is suitable for low-cost transmission systems based on the wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) principle. In the datacom area it can be used for low-cost expansion of capacity and protocol mixing in existing networks. The laser is available with various emission wavelengths in the 1300 nm and 1550 nm windows for data transmission and in the 1480 nm wavelength band for monitoring.
