Computerized Fiber Optic Polisher
The computerized process eliminates manual dial-in for settings, allowing the user to simply pre-program the machine for multi-stage connector polishing. The unit features a closed loop microprocessor which controls the automatic fixture arm and integrated fiber tray as well as the polishing disk speed, arm pressure and polishing time. The intuitive programmable software requires no training and offers a large size LCD touch panel with alarm message functions.
The OFL-15 easily accommodates a full range of industry-standard polishing styles including PC, Super PC, Ultra PC, Advanced PC, Angle PC, Angle-flat and can process a wide variety of ferrule material including Zirconia Ceramic, Alumina Ceramic, Stainless Steel, Glass and Ceramic/Stainless composite. The OFL-15 offers mass production polishing without periodic recalibration and little need for repolishing. The rugged benchtop unit, which weighs 66 lbs., accommodates a host of connector styles such as SC, FC, ST", MU, LC, and E2000 and operates with AC 100/115/220/240V.
The OFL-15 consistently produces more accurate results when compared to low-cost hand polisher kits. The polishing process is accomplished in three stages; grinding, lapping and polishing. The process results in a Super PC finish with a radius of 20mm (13mm typical). Fiber undercut is 0.1um or less (0.05um typical), and ferrule endface curvature offset is guaranteed at 50um or less (18um typical). Available for delivery from the factory in 4 to 8 weeks ARO, the OFL-15 Fiber Optic Polishing Machine is priced at $32,000, quantity one.
"The new Seiko Instruments' OFL-15 Programmable Polisher offers users a computerized means of high-quality connector polishing to support various requirements of polishing conditions including polishing pressure, disk rotation speed, and polishing time," said Steve Baldo, National Sales Manager for Seiko Fiber Optic Products Group.
