Optical Network Analyzers: Optical Vector Analyzer Platform

Source: Luna Technologies, a Division of Luna Innovations Incorporated
Luna Technologies' Optical Vector Analyzer™ (OVA) is the first instrument on the market that is capable of full and complete all-parameter linear characterization of single-mode optical components.

Luna Technologies' Optical Vector Analyzer™ (OVA) is the first instrument on the market that is capable of full and complete all-parameter linear characterization of single-mode optical components. The OVA provides comprehensive component characterization of fiber Bragg gratings, dispersion compensation modules, AWGs and many other optical devices. A complete vector model of the optical field, including polarization state and optical phase, is used to characterize the device under test.

Luna's Optical Vector Analyzer can simultaneously perform these optical component characterizations four times a second:

  • Insertion Loss (IL)
  • Return Loss (RL)
  • Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL)
  • Phase Response
  • Group Delay (GD)
  • Chromatic Dispersion (CD)
  • Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD)
  • 2nd Order Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD)
  • Min/Max Loss Due To Polarization
  • Impulse Response
  • Jones Matrix Elements
  • Phase Ripple - Linear And Quadratic

Optical Vector Analyzer: Model OVA 5000:
A device for single-measurement, all-parameter analysis of fiber optic components and assemblies up to 150 meters in length. This instrument is the fastest, most accurate and economical tool for loss, dispersion and polarization measurements of modern optical networking equipment. With the OVA 5000, a full C and L band characterization of all linear optical parameters can be completed in less than three seconds.

Optical Vector Analyzer Software Packages

Desktop Analysis: This software provides all the benefits of OVA analysis without the instrument. Save data files from your OVA measurements, share them with your customers, work on them from your desk or on vacation - anywhere that you have a computer with desktop analysis software!

Polarization Analysis: Combined with measurements from the Optical Vector Analyzer, this software provides a complete picture of your component's polarization dependence. Save time in calculations and measurements by simulating the input polarization state and viewing the component's response.
