The S3045 is a CMOS Synchronous Optical Network (SONET)/SDH section terminator transceiver used for integrating four STS-12/STM-4 data streams into a single STS-48/STM-16 data stream. Combined with the S3041 transmitter and S3042 receiver, the three chipset reduces power consumption by 350% over competing solutions, setting a new precedent in power reduction for OC-48 solutions. The S3041/42/45 chipset's compatibility with both off-the-shelf and proprietary solutions, guaranteed compliance with American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Bellcore, and ITU-T specifications and 2.5 GHz operation make it the ideal solution for designers of both SONET/SDH-based and Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) applications.

As part of the OC-48 Silicon Sonet Transport (SST) solution, the transmitter and receiver chipset adds jitter performance, low power consumption, and economics to the power reduction benefits of the S3045.
