The MCDR Series regenerates clean clock and data signals from the incoming 9.953 Gb/s (MCDR-9000) and 10.664 Gb/s (MCDR-9500) data streams. The device utilizes high quality resonance filter clock recovery technology for superior jitter performance.

The clock is extracted from the incoming NRZ data stream by time differentiating to generate spectral energy at 9.953 Gb/s (MCDR-9000) and 10.664 Gb/s (MCDR-9500). A precision narrow-band resonance filter then extracts the clock and eliminates unwanted jitter. The resulting clock is then precisely aligned at the decision circuit to re-time the input data.

The resonance filter bandpass characteristic provides fully SONET compliant jitter accommodation and transfer over a wide temperature range independent of data pattern transition density. The output clock has exceptionally low jitter.
