Bethesda, MD-based Chromatis Networks Inc., which develops next-generation transport solutions for the metropolitan network environment, appointed Robert Barron to the posts of president and COO. He will oversee all of Chromatis' global operations, including scaling the sales, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, and support teams for volume product delivery. Previously, Barron was vice president of operations and corporate officer at Nokia/Diamond Lane Communications.
Chromatis introduced its Selective Wave Division Multiplexing (SWDM) technology in September and will enter trials of its next-generation metro product line with major carriers this fall. SWDM enables a carrier to deliver one or more wavelengths to those sites in metropolitan area networks (MANs) that require multi-gigabit capacities while allowing other sites on the same ring that do not require such high capacity to share less-expensive bandwidth.
