CEL to introduce a variety of new NEC fiber optic components at the OFC Show in Anaheim, March 19 - 21

Santa Clara, CA —January 31, 2001 — On February 19, at this year's OFC Show, California Eastern Laboratories will be introducing a number of new fiber optic components from NEC. You're invited to drop by Booth 2576 to review these new products. Data sheets for most of them will also be on CEL's website at www.cel.com. These products include:

A series of new DFB Lasers with integrated modulators for DWDM —
Developed for C and L Band, the NX8560LJ is a 10Gbps source for OC-192, 40km use. For OC-48, we're introducing two new 2.5Gbps devices: the NX8564LE for 360km distances, and the NX8565LE for 600km. All three are wavelength selectable, and each is available in a butterfly package.

Three new High Power CW Sources, including one with a Wavelength Locker —
Designed for long haul applications, the 10mW NX8563LB and 20mW NX8562LB are both 1550nm/ 2.5Gbps devices. The NX8570SA delivers 20mW output power and features an onboard cooler, isolator and thermistor — plus an integrated Wavelength Locker.

A new 2.5Gbps APD Receiver Module with onboard TIA —
Ideal for OC-48 long haul DWDM, metro network and metro access, the NR4500 detector features an integrated transimpedance amplifier that helps reduce noise, increase sensitivity (-32dBm over tempera-ture), and improve bit error rates. 1310 and 1550nm versions are available, and both are housed in low cost, coaxial packages.

The 120mW NX7461LE and 150mW NX7462LE draw just 25 and 50 mA current (typ) respectively. Both are housed in 14 pin butterfly packages.

A variety of OE Hybrid Modules for SONET and SDH, many in NEC's unique detachable-pigtail package —
CEL offers both Tx and Rx modules for virtually all Telcordia SONET GR-253 categories: OC-3/155Mbps, OC-12/622Mbps and OC-48/2.5Gbps — for intraoffice, short haul, and long haul applica-tions. Best of all, most are available in NEC's detachable-pigtail package which, for the first time, makes reflow soldering practical for OE modules. New 40 Channel AWG Optical Mux/DMux modules — Ideal for SONET, ATM and other applications, these Array Waveguide Grating modules feature 100GHz channel spacing, low insertion loss and minimal crosstalk. Designed for C and L Band they're available now in miniature, low profile packages.

New modules for ATM Passive Optical Networks —
NEC's new PON Broadband Modules offer a complete solution for FTTB and FTTN networks. OLT (Optical Line Termination) modules offer 1310nm upstream and 1550nm downstream performance, while our ONU (Optical network Unit) transceivers are available in 1310nm upstream and a variety of downstream configurations. 155/155, 155/622 and 622/622Mbps versions are available. These OLTs and ONUs are available for both FSAN Class B and Class C operation.
