Bear Communications Awarded Exclusive Huntsville Utilities Fiber Network Construction Project

Company to construct 1000 miles of fiber optic cable over three (3) years

Lawrence, KS /PRNewswire/ - Bear Communications, LLC today announced they have secured a long term, 1000-mile fiber optic network construction project with Huntsville Utilities in Huntsville, Alabama. Under the terms of the three-year contract, Bear Communications will provide aerial and underground construction services in the deployment of the fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) network.

Huntsville Utilities is preparing for the future of the utility industry by installing a fiber optic network to operate their electric, water and natural gas systems. In addition to capacity for the operation of the utility infrastructure, the network design includes excess capacity known as "dark fiber" which will be available for lease to other commercial and public entities to provide services and transfer data. "After a thorough vetting process, Huntsville Utilities selected Bear Communications as the fiber network construction contractor for the fiber network expansion project," said Stacy Cantrell, Vice President of Engineering at Huntsville Utilities.
