ASE Light Source

For fiber optic designers seeking to exploit the 1310-nm low-dispersion window, Molecular OptoElectronics Corp. offers a broadband light source for multiwavelength test and measurement. Xolar is a way to boost the dynamic range of a 1310-nm test system, delivering more power than standard light-emitting diodes.
Based on amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) in a solid state gain waveguide, Xolar delivers more than 1 mW of integrated power with a 3 dB bandwidth of 45 nm, and peak output at 1323 nm.
Xolar is a key module of a measurement platform that enables the development and testing of wavelength division multiplexing components and systems for the high-bandwidth 1310-nm window. The light source is also suitable for sensor applications, optical CDMA systems, and other uses requiring broadband incoherent light in this region of the spectrum.
