Adept Technology names new VP of Engineering

San Jose, California -- Adept Technology, Inc., Inc., a leading manufacturer of flexible automation for the telecommunications, fiber optic and semiconductor industries, today announced the appointment of Matthew Murphy to vice president of engineering.

Murphy will assume responsibility for engineering and development activities for Adept's robot and controls product lines. He will report to Brian Carlisle, chairman and chief executive officer for Adept Technology and will operate from Adept's corporate office in San Jose, California.

Prior to joining Adept, Murphy served at ADAC Medical Systems in Milpitas, California, where he held several executive management positions including vice president of product marketing and vice president of platform engineering. He has over 18 years experience in engineering management working for such companies as ETAK, Inc and Lockheed Research Lab in Palo Alto. Murphy holds bachelor of science and master of science degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois.
