ADC Is Party-Neutral Supplier Of Fiber Connectivity Solutions At Democratic And Republican National Convention Sites

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--People around the world won't see ADC (NASDAQ: ADCT) (www.adc.com) front and center at this week's Democratic National Convention (DNC) activities; however, they will see countless blog posts, news broadcasts, video streams relaying the action from Denver's Pepsi Center over an on-site network created through ADC's partnership with Qwest Communications Inc. (NYSE: Q).

ADC is providing its full suite of fiber and fiber termination products – including patch cords, panels and splice trays – to assist Qwest in carrying traffic on more than 2,600 temporary data lines and 3,400 voice circuits at the Pepsi Center, the main DNC venue, and nearby Invesco Field at Mile High, the site of Barack Obama's DNC speech.

Before the DNC ends on Aug. 28, ADC and Qwest will be working on the installation of another fiber network at St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center, site of the Republican National Convention (RNC) Sept. 1-4.

"These presidential conventions, more than any others in our history, are requiring an enormous pipeline of bandwidth to meet the telecommunications needs of media, delegates and other attendees," said David Rapp, program manager for fiber connectivity for ADC. "We have a long-standing history of providing reliable and customized connectivity solutions for Qwest, and that's the type of partnership that was needed to support the massive bandwidth requirements for the RNC and DNC."

The Qwest network has an aggregate data capacity of about 50 billion bits per second. According to Qwest, the bandwidth supplied over the 96 hours of the DNC event equals the broadband capacity to transfer 514 million 4 Mbps MP3s across the Internet.

"The Democratic National Convention and the Republican National Convention are extraordinary opportunities for Qwest and ADC to showcase their partnership and deliver our great products and services," said John Stanoch, president of Qwest Minnesota.

ADC also will support wireless services for the RNC and DNC events. ADC's FlexWave Universal Radio Head® (URH) systems at the Xcel Energy Center will supply comprehensive 2.5G and 3G wireless voice and data connectivity for convention visitors throughout the facility. ADC's InterReach Fusion® in-building systems will deliver cellular services through its existing in-building system at the Colorado Convention Center and through recently deployed systems at the Pepsi Center, Coors Field, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Invesco Field, and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.
