10 Gb/s High Sensitivity APD and Pin Receivers

EPITAXX, Inc10 Gb/s receivers for high capacity networks are being installed and upgraded to OC-192/ STM-64 speeds. These receivers will be used in DWDM systems long haul and metro, single channel SONET/SDH applications, routing and switching providing short and long haul interfaces to other routers, Central Offices or the DWDM backbone.

The receivers exhibit sensitivities ranging from –16 dBm to –26 dBm, low group delay deviation of 30 ps, typical bandwidth of 10 GHz, transimpedance gains from 200 Ohm to 2,000 Ohms with a standard SMA-compatible output connector, simplifying the interface design to the processing electronics.

The receiver modules integrate a photodetector followed by a low noise front-end preamplification stage. These modules utilize proprietary InGaAs-InP p-i-n and avalanche photodetectors, as well as custom compound integrated circuits based on GaAs and SiGe technologies. The receivers provide the front-end detection and amplification functions of the optical receiver circuitry.
