N/AS19201) is a highly-integrated STS-192/STM-64 framer device that supports channelized OC-192 SONET and SDH traffic.

The Indus, when used in conjunction with the recently announced S3091/S3092 mux/demux devices, provides a complete OC-192 SONET/SDH Framer/Phy chipset solution for SONET/SDH and Optical Networking applications.

Ideal for high-bandwidth DWDM/TDM aggregation and ADM applications, the Indus aggregates up to four STS-48/STM-16 parallel line interfaces into one STS-192/STM-64 16-bit, 622 MHz Line Interface. The Indus also supports redundancy and traffic grooming applications, via two on-chip STS-1 level Time Slot Interchange switches (TSIs). The Indus's STS-1 TSIs enable Optical Networking equipment vendors to develop OC-192 cross-connects and switch fabrics with STS-1 level granularity. The Indus can also take existing OC-48 equipment vendors to OC-192 rates with minimal additional hardware.

Indus is the latest addition to the SONET/SDH framer family of products, which includes Congo, Nile, Amazon and Missouri. Developed by the former Cimaron Communications of Andover, Mass. that was acquired by AMCC last year, Indus is designed to work with AMCC's family of OC-192 and OC-48 PHY and framer devices. When used in conjunction with other AMCC framer/mapper/pointer processor devices, the Indus provides for the payload mapping and aggregation of up to 64 STS-3/STM-1 payloads and/or pointer processing of 192 STS-1 tributaries. Indus also provides the ability to transport a 10Gbps signal on four low cost 2.5 Gbps optics, thereby enabling the use of existing OC-48 infrastructures and providing significant cost savings to OC-192 system providers.
