Photon Control Technologies, (PCT) was founded in 1999 to leverage the decades of fiber optic and manufacturing expertise of the founders in exploiting a breakthrough technology for Passive Optic Components. This technology increases the bandwidth in existing and new fiber optic communications systems at a much lower cost than previously possible. The advent of the Internet has sent technologists scrambling to keep up with the demand to transmit an exponentially increasing amount of data. The devices built by PCT allow Metro and Access Networks to significantly increase bandwidth at viable cost.

Using licensed and proprietary technologies, PCT has developed a unique fused coupler passive fiber optic technology to control lightwaves in optical networks. Our products combine, split out, add in, or drop off wavelengths of light in optical transmission systems, and their constituent components. Products made using our technology are much simpler to manufacture, and thus less costly, than those using other industry methods. Also, our technology is economically scalable to very large volume. When compared to other available fiber optic passive components, PCT products provide solutions that enable fiber optic communication system manufacturers to enter markets previously closed due to cost and performance barriers.

While PCT is initially focused on solutions for the Metropolitan Area and Access Network market, introducing low-cost Coarse WDM couplers, optical add/drop multiplexers, and PON components which will facilitate and accelerate the expansion of fiber toward the office and home, PCT also addresses the long haul market with products to meet coupler and filter demands for erbium-doped fiber amplifiers and Dense DWDM systems.
