AFS started marketing its seals in 1993. Sales have grown rapidly and it has developed a high reputation for its ability to respond to customer requirements providing custom designed feedthroughs from 6mm (¼ inch) solid through to 250mm (10 inch) hollow shaft units. Larger units are also available.

AFS has developed a directly driven feedthrough called the Drivethru®, which offers major advantages over conventional belt or gear driven feedthroughs. It is also possible, by using an integral encoder, to achieve previously unattainable precision control. This is of particular advantage in some semiconductor manufacturing processes.

AFS has also developed a SMART-Seal® for more widespread industrial applications. This is a positive, low friction seal that does not rely on controlled leakage or rubbing, as conventional seals. It has already demonstrated its advantages in a wide range of applications from food manufacture to aggregate handling and can be utilised wherever gases or non-liquids need to be kept in or out of processes. It is a simple fit-and-forget seal that can, and does, save money.

AFS is determined to maintain and improve its sales and support (engineering/ design/service) capabilities, which have helped it, grow into its present position. It is a young company with world leading knowledge in its fields of magnetic and controllable fluids. Our patented technologies have many commercially based, applications, which we have only just begun to explore.
