RMH-Series and RMS-Series Super Raman*
The Telecom ready subrack is a stand-alone
rack-mounted unit, which operates virtually
independently from the receiving terminal equipment.
Its network-related plug-in units (PIUs) include: alarm
and status monitor, fiber integrity monitor and safety
shutdown (doubly redundant), and a network element
interface. Each pump laser diode is mounted as a
separate PIU. This feature is unique to MPB's Raman
telecom subrack product line. It allows the "hot swap"
of a laser diode PIU in the event of a laser diode failure.
Applications for this system-ready, "plug and play"
units include distributed Raman amplifications and
remote EDFA pumping.
MPB Communications Inc.'s Raman Pump sources are available in two basic configurations: as a complete telecom-ready subrack or as a "flatpack" (see High-Power Raman Laser Flatpack).
High-Power Raman Telecom Subrack Module (RMH-Series)
- telecom-ready Raman pump modules with network interface and alarm and status monitor
- "hot-swap" individual pump diode cards for a dramatically lower overall FIT value
- fiber integrity monitor versions for both the C- and L- bands
- single or dual-wavelength versions available for both the C- and L- bands
- output powers up to 1.5 W
- provides 2.0 to 2.5 dB extra margin improvement compared to conventional Raman pumping
- dual-wavelength Super Raman* pumping provides a broader gain spectrum than dual-wavelength conventional Raman
- uses a unique simplified Raman fiber laser based on a single Raman conversion
- single or dual-wavelength versions available for both the C- and L- bands
- "hot-swap" individual pump cards for a dramatically lower overall FIT value
- complete telecom-ready modules
